I Created Timber’s Island from Diddy Kong Racing in Disney Infinity 3.0
I recreated Timber’s Island from Diddy Kong Racing in Disney Infinity 3.0.
Rare always did what Nintendo did, but perfected it. While Super Mario 64 is epic in scope and the first of its kind, it’s polygons, while Banjo--Kazooie feels like you’re playing a storybook. I don’t care what anyone says, Rare is the closest thing to Pixar that the video game industry has. Naughty Dog and Insomniac are still a far cry to what Rare was in the 90s. Rare is a little different now under Microsoft reign, in fact they really haven’t released much in the last 15 years.
I love platformers, and while I wait patiently for Yooka-Laylee to come out, I got Disney Infinity 3.0, partially drawn by the Disney synergy and finally being able to play as Aladdin and Han Solo in the same platformer. What I didn’t know was that Disney Infinity has an entire Toy Box builder where you can build your own game with rules, collectibles, camera angles and other things.
As I searched the internet for Rare related Toy Boxes, I realized zero people have made zero toy boxes. There’s a ton of Super Mario Bros. World 1-1, but there isn’t anything related to Banjo--Kazooie, Conker, or Diddy Kong Racing.
So I created Timber’s Island, the hub world from Diddy Kong Racing, complete with the frogs.
Here’s a video of Han Solo hanging out on Timber’s Island:
If you are unaware, Diddy Kong Racing had a hub world that you started in and then you would drive or fly to doors that would take you to the four areas of the game that then would have their own doors to each race track. Timber’s Island isn’t actually owned by the character Timber the tiger, instead his parents own the island, but went on vacation and left Timber in charge, allowing him to host a racing competition with his friends. Timber, Bumper, T.T., Drumstick, and of course Pipsy are all residents of Timber’s Island.
My ultimate goal is to connect to other Toy Boxes I build. I built it on an XBox 360 version of Disney Infinity 3.0 and reached the maximum amount of space I could have in the Toy Box, but can still connect the door to up to ten Toy Boxes. So I may build Dino Domain and Sherbert Island. Or I was thinking of making Spiral Mountain and just having the door for Dino Domain bring you to Spiral Mountain. Spiral Mountain could then have a door leading to the Northern Kremisphere, which then leads to DK Island. After all it makes sense that Banjo the bear lives somewhere near the Northern Kremishere. And the Isle of Hags would be way to big to build.
